This is a joint program of the Media Development Foundation and the German organization Media in Cooperation and Transition (MICT), supported by the German Foreign Office.
The Fellowship for Mediamakers’ program is designed for media professionals under 30 and lasts for four months. During this time, participants learn from experienced journalists and acquire the essential skills needed to start their careers. They study journalism standards, master news writing and frontline reporting, conduct interviews on sensitive topics, and explore the fundamentals of investigative journalism. Additionally, they receive training in financial literacy and career development, helping them navigate their professional growth.
Participants also receive a monthly stipend of €700, have access to psychological counseling, can request essential work equipment, and undergo internships at independent Ukrainian newsrooms.
So far, the program has trained 90 young journalists. After completing it, they feel more confident and motivated to advance in the field, define their career paths in journalism, and even secure employment.
