MediaPort was founded in the mid-2000s when a team of journalists seeking editorial independence left the “Ob’yektyv” media group. Initially broadcasting on local television, the platform shifted its focus to the website mediaport.ua, becoming one of Kharkiv’s leading media outlets by 2015.
With a mission to foster positive change in Kharkiv and its region, MediaPort produces content that focuses on key regional issues, including the aftermath of shelling, reconstruction efforts, human stories, and the economic and social impact of the war. The content also partially covers politics and cultural processes.
Key results after the Local Media Relaunch Initiative program:
→ New identity and updated website;
→ Annual strategic plan
The Local Media Relaunch Initiative program aligns perfectly with my vision — I wanted to relaunch MediaPort under new conditions, shifting away from news to focus on larger formats such as video, reports, and analytical content. I understand that reviving MediaPort in its original form is impossible, especially given Kharkiv’s challenging media market and staffing difficulties.
